Ballard is more than the world leader in proton exchange membrane fuel cell technology. We are developing and bringing to market Ballard® fuel cell systems for transportation, stationary and portable applications. We offer key subsystems and components that support Ballard® fuel cell products. These include fuel cell engines, electric drive systems, power conversion equipment, fuel cell power generation equipment, and friction and gas diffusion layer materials.

Achievements in 2001:
Ecostar Electric Powertrain and Power Conversion Systems and XCELLSIS - The Fuel Cell Engine Company have become part of Ballard Power Systems. We now provide our customers with expanded product lines, from components to electric drive and power conversion products to vehicular fuel cell power trains. Also in 2001, we launched the Nexa™power module, our first commercial fuel cell product.

News at HANNOVER FAIR 2002:
Ballard will be demonstrating the Nexa™ power module, our first commercial fuel cell product, and showcasing our expanded product lines for transportation, power generation, electric drive and power conversion, as well as material products applications.

One of the attractions at the Ballard booth is the small gaseous Hydrogen Fuel Cell go-kart powered by Ballard. The go-kart was built last year as a show case and features 5 kW net power for traction. It has even been test driven by professional Formula 1 drivers David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen.
