Hans-Olof Nilsson's Off-The-Grid Hydrogen House near Goteborg, Sweden | ||||
My thoughts on how dreams can come true. I was now able to see Hans-Olof Nilsson's Off-The-Grid Hydrogen House near Goteborg, Sweden on December 1, 2018. During that visit, I learned a lot and fully understood; what a great and so far globally unique achievement was accomplished here. My dream since the 1990s has finally become reality. That was my idea from the year 2008: https://www.hydrogenambassadors.com/background/use-of-a-personal-power-provider-3P+.php Which which causes me, to pull my virtual hat (unfortunately I don`t have one ...) deep in front of Hans-Olof's outstanding ideas and also for the achievements of all involved people in the supplier companies. The entire concept of the unique Hydrogen House, the integration of all the complex units as well as the exemplary installation, are by far the best, I have ever seen in the world. And I have seen much. My sincere respect for this unique achievement, AND hopefully, there will soon be more examples of this kind! Thanks ALSO to the great support from Martina Wettin, Market/PR Director and Partner of NILSSON ENERGY and to Michael Jensen, a Swedish journalist. See a comprehensive report with the technical data and fine pictures of the house from Michael Jensen here: https://lnkd.in/g6dKPn3 I am looking forward to our next contacts. More to come, much more. Thanks again to all involved in this great project. Occupation reach: Arno who was posting this from Goteborg. Here the outer appearance of Hans-Olof`s OFF-the-Grid Hydrogen house. The 140 square meters photovoltaic Panels can produce 20 kWp electrical power and the 20-square meter thermal panels, can heat 13 kW of thermal power ... On the facade, vertical PV elements (0.8 kWp each) are able to capture the low angle sun (12-15 degrees over the horizon) in the wintertime ... Obviously, it’s the southward roof that delivers most of the electrical energy for the house, while on the West facade (left) two solar panels capture the late afternoon and evening sun, producing roughly 2.0 kWp ... Even on a cloudy day; as it was on my visit December 1, 2018, the house can produce enough electricity to be fully grid independent. Storage is first in Batteries and secondly in Hydrogen via Electrolyzing the hydrogen is than stored and later used to make electricity in the Fuel Cell System again ... The house has a floor space of 500 square meters in total ... All units and appliances in the house are more or less interconnected, by wire or tubes or both – totaling 15 kilometers of tubing and 150 kilometers of electrical wiring. All switches (main plugs) in the house go to central switchboards (one of the total seven in the house...) in the basement and can be individually programmed and monitored by the KNX system. Tex supported by with thanks to Michel Jensen, who wrote a comprehensive report on the house here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/true-pioneer-goes-off-grid-michael-jensen/ The Photovoltaic Section of the grid-independent Hydrogen House is kind of conventional,
it is very well installed and wired and quite impressive, just by its order of magnitude. The more than 140 square meter Photovoltaic Panels on the roof and walls produce over 20 kWp electrical power. When the batteries are fully charged, the excess electricity goes into the electrolyser, to make hydrogen for the long-time storage.. The best content in this massage is, that all of the house was designed, constructed and all equipment, piping, and wiring were defined and installed by a single, private person, Hans-Olof Nilsson. He did the job on his own money and using his own experience, which should NORMALLY be done by the BIG (???) commercial companies or by the BIG (???) research institutions, which are obliged to do such things from their own R+D Budgets, but who, regrettably just burn the taxpayer's money. The Direct Solar Irradiation is of course much higher in Southern Europe and Africa, as it is here in Sweden. But to operate a completely Off-the-Grid house, as Hans Olof Nilsson does it so successfully, these values of nature have of course to be taken into consideration. Then, it is "just" a question of the dimensions of the size of the PV Panels. My idea was from the beginning, to have 100% of -the-Grid houses, and offices and schools and kindergartens, ALL over the world, using the locally (on the property of the houses...) available real renewable energies, That must not only be PV, but can also be geothermal energy, heated water as Hans -Olof did it as well, wind energy, running and pumped water and so on. There are NO limits; OTHER THAN THE PHANTASY and in using this, we can get rid of the conversion and distribution losses, cost and pollution easily. The Direct Solar Irradiation is of course much higher in Southern Europe and Africa, as it is here in Sweden. But to operate a completely OFF-the-Grid house, as Hans Olof Nilsson does it so successfully, these given irradiation-values of nature have of course to be taken into consideration.
