Eight requests for the New Year

This is the third edition of "Arno's energy ideas" by Arno A. Evers, founder and long-time until 2006 organizer of the Group Exhibit "Hydrogen + Fuel Cells "at the annual HANNOVER FAIR in Germany since 1995. Until 2010, Evers and his team are worldwide active to speak, exhibit or participate in hydrogen and fuel cells congresses as ambassadors of the Group Exhibition, contracted by Deutsche Messe AG. All these activities are documented on the Internet and are updated regularly.

What I would like to see:

1st:
More clear distinctions in terms such as: "Energy", "Energy Carrier", "Primary Energy" "Electricity" or "Renewable Energies". There is still a lot of information needed, particularly for media representatives and politicians.

2nd:
More direct applications of direct current (DC), produced by photovoltaic and then used de-centrally to power appliances like computers or battery chargers.

3rd:
That the effectiveness calculations of electricity power plants not only begin when the energy carriers: coal, gas, oil and uranium are on the grounds of the power plants.

4th:
That the conversion losses (flaring and transmission losses) for the current and planned production of electricity in Germany will be more thoroughly discussed, and - most importantly – will be decisively improved.

5th:
That a fair, equitable, sustainable and environmentally-friendly energy production and distribution will not be just a constantly unfulfilled demand, but soon reality in this world.

6th:
More politicians like Helmut Schmidt, Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (1974 -- 1982). He wrote in his book: "In the search for a public morality" (1998): "…Scientific and medical basic research, applied researches are essential keys if we want to create new, productive and profitable jobs. Jobs, of which one must not fear that they will soon move to cheaper manufacturing countries!...-...We need enthusiasm and impetus for innovation!"

7th:
That the automobile traffic in the future, will provide “Virtual Power Plants” by combining and networking all energy converters in the vehicles. This system should be based on hydrogen, produced decentralized by direct solar energy and fuel cells.

8th:
More imagination, holistic approaches and creativity for researchers, developers, business developers, equity financers and end-users of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
