Theme:
Large-scale Solar Heating Plant Marstal
Motto:
This innovative solar heating plant meets a large part of
the energy needs of the city of Marstal/Danmark
Realization: :
Marstal Fjernvarme, Denmark
1980 began
the small Danish city Marstal, to change over their energy
supply to regenerativ energies and the at present largest
solar plant for long-distance heating was built.
Operator
of the system is a cooperative, Marstal Fjernvarme, in which
all inhabitants are involved. Chairman is Niels Aage Jensen.
The solar heating factory, which consists of 720 solar panels,
cost five million DM. When planning and building of the system
Niels Aage Jensen could fall back to the experiences of other
solar plants, since between many operators of such systems
an active information exchange takes place.
Approximately
15% of the power requirement of the city in the winter and
almost 100% in the summer months are covered by solar power.
The system is merged into nature, and between the collectors
sheeps mow down the grass.
