This is the exhibition stand of the Union of the German Academies of science and Humanities, the association of the seven German Academies. The Academies are responsible for about 150 research projects both in the humanities and natural sciences.
Dr. Heidi Escher-Vetter of the Bavarian Academy explains the melting of the glaciers to the audience.

Dr. Escher-Vetter, specialist in glaciology, in front of a photography of the "Vermagtferner": She emphasizes the importance of the glaciers as water resources.

Wolfgang Seemüller of the German Geodetic Research Institute of the Bavarian Academy reports about the most advanced satellite measuring technology, allowing most exact measures of the earth surface.
