HANNOVER FAIR 2005 (11-15 April)

“Energy” – leading international trade fair for energy technology, renewable energy and energy management

– “Contracting Forum”, a new information platform for energy efficiency and resource conservation
– “1st Hannover REFF – International Finance Forum”, featuring international finance experts

As the leading international trade fair for energy technology, renewable energy and energy management, “Energy” covers the entire spectrum of energy production and supply for industry, the trades and facility managers. During HANNOVER FAIR 2005, which runs from 11 to 15 April, 650 companies will be mounting their exhibits on a massive 28,500 square meters of net display space to showcase their latest customer-specific solutions.

The “Energy” tradeshow centers around energy technology, with a strong emphasis on energy efficiency and cost management. The electric energy technology displays in Halls 11 and 12 run the entire gamut of energy technology innovation – everything from uninterruptible power supply systems to the open- and closed-circuit control of large-scale interconnected networks; and from energy efficiency measures to cost-management programs in the liberalized electricity markets. Common to all of these areas is the steadily increasing importance of energy services, contracting and complete energy supply solutions. In addition, Hall 13 gives pride of place to displays centered on fuel cells and hydrogen technology, solar and wind energy, geothermal energy, bio-energy and hydropower, as well as the full range of energy-related services.

This year, the “Energy” show will feature an all-new presentation platform: the “Contracting Forum”, where affiliates of the ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association) will be showcasing market-ready, fully realized contracting solutions developed for industrial, trade, and municipal applications. The Forum will use a number of practical examples to profile all of the contracting model’s many applications, including uses in the fields of energy delivery, heating and compressed air, plus a host of variations in between. Contracting – the outsourcing of services for the planning, financing and construction of electricity, heating and utility supply plants, and the modernization and operation of existing plants – is the key to security of supply, lower costs and a healthier environment. The main thrust of the energy contracting model is on energy efficiency and conserving natural resources.

The “Energy” tradeshow will also include an array of themed events. One new addition in this vein, the “1st Hannover REFF – International Finance Forum”, will feature international finance experts, and will focus on energy project financing, venture capital and private equity in the new EU Member States and core export markets. An extensive range of current energy-related issues will be canvassed at the “Life Needs Power” energy forum, organized by the ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association) and the VDEW (German Electricity Association), and the “Renewables” forum, which is co-organized by the German Energy Agency (dena).

The “Hydrogen + Fuel Cells” pavilion, the world’s largest group presentation on these innovative technologies, is a long-established magnet for trade visitors and media alike. Other special events and displays include the “Investor’s Lounge”, aimed at senior executives and investors from the renewables sector; the “Fast-growing Energy Carriers/Biomass/Biogas” show organized by Lower Saxony´s Ministry of Agriculture; the “clean energy + energy services” event, a joint presentation on renewable energies aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises; and, finally, the “Hydrogen + Fuel Cells” congress.
