HANNOVER FAIR’03 – April 7 – 12

Exhibitors at Group Exhibit Hydrogen + Fuel Cells present customer-oriented B2B and B2C applications

- Focus is on Product Reliability and Process efficiency
- Networking at established H2/FC platform featuring 16 countries

At the annual HANNOVER FAIR 2003, April 7-12, in Germany, the Group Exhibit on Hydrogen + Fuel Cells (H2/FC) organised by Arno A. Evers FAIR-PR, brings together international players of this emerging industry. The setting looks promising: Eight simultaneous trade shows including topics like “Factory Automation”, “Micro Technology” and “Energy” and 7.000 exhibitors offer a platform for decision-makers from different industrial backgrounds. About 250.000 commercial trade fair visitors are expected at the biggest industrial and energy fair worldwide.

International meeting point
The Group Exhibit Hydrogen + Fuel Cells with around 90 exhibitors out of 19 countries is an established part of the “Energy” trade show . The Group Exhibit teams up an international mixture of organisations including global players, as well as, SME’s and research institutions. All phases in the H2/FC production cycle, from R&D and manufacturing to customer satisfaction, are visually displayed. In addition to the 10 countries which have traditionally exhibited in the past, Armenia, Iceland, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Russia will join in for the first time. All exhibitors will showcase their most recent developments in H2/FC applications, components, materials & peripherals. As a result, the Group Exhibit shows the advancement of H2/FC products/services on their way to commercialisation.

Ready - Steady - Go!
Fuel Cells convert hydrogen fuel and oxygen into electricity, heat and water. Hence, the next challenge ahead is to translate H2/FC expertise into applicable products and services to be efficiently integrated by the consumer into his daily activities. Two key factors, illustrated at the Group Exhibit - Hydrogen + Fuel Cells, seem to be decisive; product reliability and process efficiency to attain mass production.
This year, HydrogenSource, South Windsor, USA displays the first stand alone fuel cell processor with a specific potential for stationary energy supply applications. The fuel processor reforms hydrocarbon fuels into a mixture of gases and hydrogen. Hydrogen will be the essential ingredient for energy production with Fuel Cells. In relation to former years, this processor contributes to lower total system costs, making it more suitable for introduction to the market as early as 2003.

Also present at the H2/FC Group Exhibit will be FutureCarbon’s, Bayreuth, Germany development of carbon nanomaterials as input for fuel processors achieving considerable process efficiencies. Furthermore, Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy, Freiburg, Germany demonstrates a camcorder that is run by a fuel cell. Last Year, this product was rewarded the 3rd place in the Competition on Fuel Cells 2002in Stuttgart for its true potential for actual mass production.

To increase reliability of the product itself, Axane, Sassenage, France tested communication devices operated by Fuel Cells under extreme conditions at the North Pole. In Hannover, Axane will showcase their promising results.

The final steps towards commercialisation are mirrored by an increasing demand for testing systems as will be shown by FuelCon AG, Magdeburg, Germany. Offering further assurance, Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, Germany presents solutions to hydrogen related safety procedures at the H2/FC Group Exhibit.
In general, this year’s Group Exhibit shows that members of the H2/FC value chain, from development to customer service, are on the verge of introducing their products to the consumer.

Talking business
At the daily Forum, located in the centre of the Group Exhibit, industry leaders discuss the final challenges of commercialisation. All attendees have the chance to interact and exchange ideas to create added awareness for the use of hydrogen and Fuel Cells. Of high value and timely importance, these topics are especially interesting for invited VIP’s from governmental administrations, politics and industry, as well as, thousands of media representatives coming to HANNOVER FAIR 2003.
But it doesn’t stop there. The key to new ideas and concepts are informal gatherings. Therefore, all exhibitors of the Group Exhibit Hydrogen +Fuel Cells, come together during our famed “Networking Evenings” where new ideas and partnerships are bred.
New and as an added benefit to all H2/FC attendees, there will be a concurrently run conference “Excellence in Fuel Cells”, Fuel Cell Summit and Workshops, April 9-11, 2003 organized by EyeforFuelCells, London, UK.

Success based on experience
Since HANNOVER FAIR 1995, the Group Exhibit - Hydrogen + Fuel Cells has developed into an important feature in this emerging industry. Initiator Arno A. Evers FAIR-PR, Starnberg, Germany, and his team host this unique platform combining cost and time efficiencies in obtaining customer contacts. Being part of this Group Exhibit at HANNOVER FAIR creates synergies in creating a common place for H2/FC products reflective of the slogan: “Go to where the Market is!”
