The Fuel Cell Initiative Baden-Wuerttemberg (BZI) was founded in 2001. Partners of the Fuel Cell Initiative Baden-Wuerttemberg are the Fuel Cell Alliance Baden-Wuerttemberg (FABZ) and the Fuel Cell Competence center (KIBZ)

The main goal of the BZI is to support the development of fuel cell technology This is done by:

• Bundling of the resources of the research institutes
• Coordination of research activities
• Linking up the participants in a network
• Creating a work base and communications platform
• Improvement of technology transfer into the industry
