Who are we? Moritz Greif (18) and Manuel Kochen (18) are a good team
with regard to a lot of different topics. Electrotechnology and
programming is the most interesting field for us. Since the
kindergarten we have had great fun to work or to fiddle out something.
Our projects were, for example, a machine that could count the persons
in a room, a GPS-device or a robot called “Roboflonso” that could drive
around barriers, searched for lite or moved from place A to B. We
are able to program microcontroller-chips. We have got this knowledge
by learning-by-doing and self –studies. Microcontrollers allow us to
construct many interesting devices, that is very useful.
Moritz is very interested in astronomy and a member of the
“Physikalischer Verein” in Frankfurt a. Main. He has his own telescopes
and works with CCD-cameras and computer-mounting. He is involved in a
hobby-astronomy school team.
Manuel is the voluntary technical assistant and sound mixer of the band “Fullstop” (www.fullstop.de)
and also works voluntarily as event organizor and music
assistant. His last project was a microcontroller-based
computercontrolling-system for stage lightnings, called “light
arranger”, which is now regularly used by the band “Fullstop”. Owing to
the band, Manuel is quite musical and plays percussion, guitar and bass
very well.
Corresponding to our hobbies we have invented an electronic solution to
move a telescope and to control stepper-engines by the PC. We
elaborated the project and took part in the biggest youth science
contest of Germany, called “Jugend forscht”. We won a first prize. We
are also interested in remote control model construction. Moritz likes
constructing and flying model planes and helicopters. Furthermore we
have also constructed model ships and model cars.
Once we even set up a wireless camera in a model plane and it took videos out of the cockpit of the plane.
Manuel attends a technical high school and Moritz an ordinary high
school. We both are in grade 13 and will get our A-Levels next year.
Then (after the civilian service instead of the military service) we
intend to study. Moritz wants to study physics and Manuel has not yet
decided whether to study physics or electrical engineering.
