Zentrum fur Sonnenenergie-und Wasserstoff-Forschung Baden-Wurttemberg (ZSW) Deputy Heads Joachim Scholta, of Elektrochemical Hydrogen Technology, and Christoph Hartnig, of Electrochemical Processes and Modelling review the advantages of their portable and stationary, hydrogen and air fuel cell systems with prospective partner.
Company Interest:
The Zentrum für Sonnenenergie- und Wasserstoff-Forschung Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) is a non-profit organisation active in research and development of fuel cells, batteries and supercapacitors, photovoltaics, regenerative fuels and system analysis. Results of fundamental and applied research of our in-house knowledge base are translated into innovative applications in cooperation with industrial partners. The increasing part of industry contracts demonstrates the successful transfer of scientific knowledge in real work products by the ZSW. The cooperation with the „WBzU“ (Fuel Cell Training and Education Center Ulm) allows a complete range of services for industrial services.
News, Inventions HANNOVER FAIR 2006:
This year the ZSW will present its competence in fuel cells along the entire value chain: from materials research, system and component modeling, stack and system design to manufacturing technologies for fuel cell stacks. Our specialists guarantee a long term partnership. In the past we developed in cooperation with different industrial partners PEM-fuel cells and systems in the range of 1W up to 15kW. We also serve our clients in PEM-fuel cell testing at our own test and evaluation center. Different projects are performed with industrial partners ranging from feasability studies up to ready to use single-press-button prototypes as e.g. a fuel cell powered scooter or small power generators.
Another topic is “Rendering the Invisible”:
The formation and transport of liquid water in low-temperature fuel cells is monitored at the Zentrum für Sonnenenergie- und Wasserstoff-Forschung (ZSW) Ulm, Germany, by means of graphical methods based on neutron scattering experiments. The applied techniques allow in an almost unique way the detection of water in unmodified fuel cells at oprating conditions with reasonable temporal (app 1 sec.) and spatial (app 100 µm) resolution. The experiments are conducted in cooperation with the Hahn-Meitner Institute in Berlin.
